Some Russian dude is going to have his entire head transplanted.

This has got to be the craziest thing I have ever read in my life. Some dude is going to have his entire head put on another body? That straight science fiction stuff right there. I read how they’re going to do it and it still doesn’t make any sense to me. Glue the spinal cord together? What is this, Home Improvement?

Seriously, though, If you read how this surgery is planned, it sounds absolutely insane. First, they want to freeze the dudes head;

Then, they want to connect all of the head’s veins and stuff to the other body

(Sorry I couldn’t find anything funnier but this is still pretty messed up)

Which totally makes sense, Because the other body would totally be functioning completely normally of course. Then, they want to cut the spinal cord with a diamond knife, because apparently a normal scalpel just won’t do in this situation.

And then they want to glue everything back together. GLUE.

I know that glue can be used in surgery, I get that, but I don’t know. Gluing two spinal cords together? That sounds very very suspect. Sounds to me like it’s going to go down in a ball of flames.

However, if this does indeed work, could you imagine the ramifications? Like, obviously not in our lifetime, but in the next generations? People could just go down to the morgue and get a new body if they felt like it. Racists and race protectors would be flipping out as spoiled brats get bodies that “look like their favorite rappers” for Christmas (Or, more likely, Hannukah). Felons would be robbing cemeteries and funeral homes so they could get new fingerprints. Mad scientists would be trying it out on dogs. It would be crazy.

One thing I do wonder about however, as I look at that first picture, is if transgendered people would even bother with hormone therapy anymore and instead just get new bodies. Makes sense doesn’t it?  See these are the types of thought I have that kept me out of the really good schools.
